Phil Jen3

  • Dr. Philip Jen (pictured above), who was the main driving force for the establishment of the INP in 2001, retires after 38 years as a faculty member at the University of Missouri-Columbia.  On September 4, 2013, a reception was held in Dr. Jen’s honor.

RECENT GRADUATES:

  • Yilong Shu received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience (INP) from the University of Missouri and accepted a postdoc at the University of Alabama
  • Qiongman Kong received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience (INP) from the University of Missouri and accepted a postdoc at the Ohio State University
  • Karen Jones received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience (INP) from the University of Missouri and accepts a postdoc at University of California-Davis at the MIND Institute.
  • Kyle Parker received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience (INP) from the University of Missouri and accepted a postdoc at University of Minnesota, Minnesota Obesity Center.
  • Eldin Jasarevic received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience (INP) from the University of Missouri and accepted a postdoc at the University of Pennsylvania
  • Pat Hecht received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience (INP) from the University of Missouri and accepted a postdoc at the University of Southern California
  • John Hegarty received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience (INP) from the University of Missouri and accepted a postdoc at Stanford University
  • Shanyan Chen received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience (INP) from the University of Missouri and accepted a postdoc at the University of California at San Diego
  • Dennis Chuang received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience (INP) from the University of Missouri and is currently completing his MD at University of Missouri as part of his MD/PhD program
  • Rong (Rebecca) Hu received her M.S. in Neuroscience (INP) from the University of Missouri and accepted a position as a staff scientist at the Oxford University (Beijing) Science & Technology Co., Ltd.

EVENTS:

  • INP wine and cheese social at the Heidelberg Restaurant on November 21, 2013 was attended by about 30 faculty and several INP graduate students
  • On April 23, 2014, the INP had a Neuro Data Blitz in which 22 speakers presented short summaries of their research.  Over 50 people attended the presentations.
  • On October 8, 2014, an INP Colloquium was held at the Heidelberg Restaurant in which 5 INP faculty gave presentations.
